Do I need a referral to Albuquerque Spine Consultants?
Yes, you will need to be referred by a physician. State sponsored insurances also require written referral.
What insurance does Albuquerque Spine Consultants accept?
The most common insurances we accept include Lovelace Health Plan, Blue Cross/Blue shield, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Evercare, Principle Financial Group, New Mexico Worker Comp, HCH Administrators, Medicare, Molina Salud, Amerigroup Medicaid. If you are unsure contact your insurance carrier and ask if our office is part of your insurance network.
What should I bring to my appointment?
A referral from your primary care provider or referring provider. Your current insurance information. All relevant radiographic imaging studies including MRI, CT scan, and plain x-rays. Either CD or actual films are acceptable and must be less than one year old. Please note that a radiologist report is not acceptable, we require the actual imaging studies. Also, a list of your current medications.
Do I need a MRI/CT scan before my appointment?
Yes, your referring provider will need to order the MRI/CT scan prior to your appointment.
How long does it take to get an appointment?
Usually 1 - 2 weeks for spine surgery consultations.
Usually 2 - 3 weeks for physiatry, (pain management) consultations.

Do you perform non-surgical procedures for spine problems?
Yes, non-surgical treatment is provided by our physiatrist Dr. Carlos Esparza.
